Survey of User Needs
Improving access to wireless technology requires consumer involvement, and consumers are an integral part of RERC research, development and training efforts. One of the first efforts of the RERC when it was established in 2001 was to learn about the usability and usefulness of wireless technology for people with disabilities. The Survey of User Needs (SUN) was designed for this purpose, and to invite respondents to join a nationwide Consumer Advisory Network (CAN). Consumer Advisors participate in a variety of RERC activities, including focus groups and user testing of products, which are reported in the CAN Newsletter:

Both the SUN and the CAN continue today, and people of all ages and abilities are invited. More than 1200 people have already responded to the survey, and nearly 800 are members of the CAN. We conduct quarterly analyses of our survey findings to help industry better understand their customers and how to better meet their needs:
