Google Maps

Posted by ed at February 12. 2008

Now that Google has added location support to Google Maps on some handsets, does this provide adequate functionality? Or do people still need to pay extra for better mapping software for handsets?

What features should Google add to the Maps to make them work better for persosn with all levels of abilities.

I found myself again Sunday while driving cursing Google for its "toy map app" for my Blackberry Bold. Just as the program looses all of its "saved favorites" some 3 plus times a year Google comes out with an update, this app's inability to intuitively direct me from my location to destination reminded me once again it is just a toy! At once point while heading West, it had me driving downward on the screen in a Southern direction, and I had to flip the phone around while driving to see if I neede4d to make a next left or right.

It is my view that if Google people had cognitive memory limitations, or lived in new surroundings where they frequently got lost, we'd have a better app. I mean. I'd pay good money for an intuitive map app to get me around. Then again, somewhere there's this thing called "accessibility" for those with brain injury. But looks to me like Wall Street is the only thing that is accessible, that is, if you have the coin.
