User Question: Voice activated on/off for phone
Up to Voice Communications
A member of our Consumer Advisory Network who cannot use her arms or legs needs a phone (wireless or landline) that she can activate completely without picking it up or pressing buttons.
There are some impact swithces that can turn devices on by hitting them. But, the best solution would be to have a phone that is completely voice activated (as opposed to simple voice command, which requires physical activation before the device can receive voice commands). The challenge here is that voice-activation usually works only when the device is on or set to receive voice commands. Otherwise, it might respond whenever it detects a human voice.
One vendor, AblePhone (http://www.ablephone.com/) offers voice-activated landline phones that activate the outgoing dialing mode by whistle. It also offers a new product that activates with pure voice commands.
Has anyone used this company's products? Which features work well, and which function less smoothly? Any input would be appreciated.

There is a new Bluetooth headset that can be used with any Bluetooth Enabled cell Phone. It does not have any wires attached to it...You do not have to push any buttons to make or receive calls and it can also be used with Dragon Naturally Speaking and Skype on a Bluetooth Enabled computer.
The Website is... http://www.nobuttonsheadset.com/
