Garmin to offer ULocate service to find friends and family

CNetNews reports that Garmin has made an agreement to offer ULocate's Where.com software on its GPS devices.

CNet's coverage suggests some skepticism about the degree to which people want to share there whereabouts with friends and family. However, this service could provide an additional measure of security for people with cognitive limitations. If they get lost, they might be more easily located. Of course, just having a cell phone could be useful. But one could imagine situations in which the cell phone may not be effective (low battery, poor signal or general confusion on the part of the individual).
