Paying Wireless Bills Wirelessly

An AT&T customer who is blind finds that the most accessible way to pay his monthly wireless bill is to call the company's toll-free customer service number from his mobile phone. Unfortunately, calls to customer service representatives in this manner eat into your personal allotment of minutes and incur a $5 fee.

Representatives have discretion to waive the $5 charge for customers with disabilities, but this request must be made at each call. He asked whether a better approach is available.

We asked AT&T to help, and we learned that customers can pay their bills on-the-go anytime by entering 611 or *PAY on their mobile devices. This call does not incur a $5 charge or use wireless minutes.

If you're an AT&T customer, do you know of these options? If you use a different carrier, please share which payment procedure you find most useful and usable.
