MyWirelessReview is a vision of the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center for Wireless Technologies, Wireless RERC.

The Wireless RERC promotes equitable access to and use of wireless technologies by people with disabilities and encourages adoption of universal design in future generations of wireless devices and applications through research, development, and training activities.

Privacy Policy & Consent

We take your privacy very seriously and are committed to protecting the personal information that you provide. Please read the Privacy Policy below to understand how we collect, use, and treat your personal information. Partnership

MyWirelessReview (MWR) is an effort by the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center for Wireless Technology (Wireless RERC).  This information will be used in our research studies.

 

What this Privacy Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy covers the personal information that MWR collects from you or about you on http://www.MyWirelessReview.com and how MWR and Wireless RERC use and treat your personal information. Personal information collected on http://www.WirelessRERC.org is NOT covered by this policy.

 

Costs/Payments:

There is no payment required of you and you will not receive any payments.

 

 

Information Collected by MyWirelessReview

We will only collect your personal information if you choose to share it with us.

 

MWR collects personal information from you when you create a profile. You must create a profile to post comments on the forum, sign-up to receive updates on the development of MyWirelessReview, or sign-up to receive updates on Wireless RERC activities. When you create a profile on MyWirelessReview, you must create a username and password and provide a valid e-mail address and zip-code.

 

When you submit a message to the forum, MWR links your message to your e-mail address and username. Only your username and message will be made public. Your e-mail address will NOT be made public. In the future, if you elected to provide wireless product and service information and/or ability information, it will also be linked to your messages and made public. You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account to protect your personal information collected by MWR.

 

Personal information is also collected from you for such purposes as responding to your requests, improving our website, and communicating with you. We do not rent, sell, or share personal information, including your e-mail address, under any circumstances. We use your e-mail address only to send a confirmation when you create register; to provide you with your password if you request; to send you notice that your message has been posted; or to respond to your requests or communication. We will also use your e-mail address to send any news and updates you request. Any personal information gathered is stored on secure servers. We have security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control.

 

If you provide feedback on your use of the website, you are communicating with MWR electronically. We may respond electronically through e-mail to request additional information. You can choose not to provide this information.

 

This website may be linked to third-party websites that are not under the control of or maintained by us. Third-party sites may collect information about you when you click on their content.  We have no liability, obligation, or responsibility for any correspondence, purchase, or promotion between you and such third-party site. 

 

We automatically record non-personal information including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser format, and system information on our server logs. During some of your visits we may use software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page.

 

We may set cookies on your computer. A cookie is an anonymous unique identifier. This allows us to make your future visits to this website more convenient by retaining relevant information that you provide (e.g, your e-mail address used for log-in). We are not able to access any cookies on your computer except for those set by us. You can configure your browser to manage whether you want to accept cookies. Accepting cookies is not required to use this website.

 

How MyWirelessReview Uses the Information Collected

The Wireless RERC will use the information collected from you through MWR to confirm the validity of submitted messages, provide you with news and/or updates that you request, and respond to your inquires. The Wireless RERC may also use the information for internal purposes, such as studying MWR website visitor’s wireless product preferences.

 

Wireless RERC may use information collected regarding activities on MWR for research purposes on an anonymous basis. The Wireless RERC may aggregate this information, such as the number of viewers and the pages commonly visited, and use it to improve products and services. The Wireless RERC may disclose anonymous aggregate information to third parties such as our business partners. Anonymous information may also be used for teaching, at meetings, in publications, or future grant applications.

 

MWR will disclose personal information within our databases when the law requires it, such as when we respond to the investigation of fraud, subpoenas, or other court orders.

 

Voluntary Participation and Withdrawal

Participation in this website is voluntary. You may request at any time that we remove personal information that you have provided. We will remove your information from our databases generally within 48 hours. If you request removal, we will no longer be able to provide you with the services you may have requested. Any messages you may have posted to the forums will no longer be made public. Requesting the removal of personal information only affects the use and sharing of information AFTER your request has been received. Anonymous information already collected for research purposes may still be used.

 

To request the removal of your personal information, please e-mail remove@mywirelessreview.com and include the e-mail address and username you used to join MWR.

 

You are under no obligation to be in this study. 

 

Children

MyWirelessReview does not market to children under 13, or collect information from children under 13 to enable them access to http://www.MyWirelessReview.com. Any change in that policy will be fully documented in an update to this Privacy Policy, and will be in full compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998. Parents wishing to get more information on COPPA and children’s privacy may visit the FTC website: http://www.ftc.gov/privacy/privacyinitiatives/childrens.html.

 

Oversight

This research study is overseen by the Shepherd Center Research Review Committee 404-350-7595, Georgia Institute of Technology Institute Review Board 404-894-6942, and federal agencies, such as the Office for Human Research Protection. Authorized staff from these organizations or from the Wireless RERC may review personal information to assure that proper procedures are being followed regarding the collection and use of your personal information. All of these persons are required by law to protect your personal information.  If you have any questions about your rights as a research participant please contact the Shepherd Center Research Review Committee 404-350-7595 or Georgia Institute of Technology Institute Review Board 404-894-6942.
