RIM Announces Blackberry Bold with enhanced screen

Research in Motion (RIM) the maker of the Blackberry smart phone, announced yesterday the launch of its Blackberry Bold, a new device that gets its name from its high resolution screen. The BlackBerry Bold features a half-VGA (480x320 pixel resolution) display capable of displaying 65,000 colors.

One writer at CNet News blog reported that the new screen was indeed very bold. "I was absolutely blown away", she said (http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9940313-7.html?tag=nl.e703).

"I can pretty much say I've never seen a better-looking display on a smartphone", she continued. "Colors pop off the screen, and it's really amazing how sharp and crisp everything looks on the display."

This is good news for people with low vision. Many of the respondents to our Survey of User Needs ( http://www.wirelessrerc.org/for-consumers/survey-of-user-needs.html) report that legibility and overall quality of the display is a common area of concern.
