Voice recognition for directions on iPhone

CNetNews.com reported yesterday on new software application for the iPhone that will produce a map, directions or other information when users speak an address or location. The new SayWhere software, developed by Dial Directions, is expected to be made available on the iStore sometime soon.

Users can get information from any one of several online services that specialize in geographical and shopping information, such as MapQuest, Yellow Pages, Ask.com, Yelp, and Traffic.com. Dial Directions hopes to continue to add partners going forward.

This could be a useful service for people with difficulty thinking or limited short term memory, and for people with low vision as well.
